Low Carbon Products and Markets – Marcus Kaufman, Biomass Specialist, Oregon Department of Forestry

(45 minutes) Abstract: this session presents a high-level scan of low-carbon products such as biochar, wood pellets, liquid jet fuel and mass timber. The session will help landowners understand the key drivers behind these new markets and what opportunities they may present.

Forest Carbon Policy and Carbon Markets: What is on the Horizon for Small Landowners – Edie Sonne-Hall, Three Trees Consulting

(45 minutes) Abstract: This session will provide an overview of current state policy that may impact forest landowners in Washington State including HB 2528, the state’s greenhouse gas emissions limits amended in HB 2311, and Washington DNR’s Carbon Sequestration Advisory Council. It will also provide an overview of some existing and emerging voluntary carbon programs available for small landowners.
