Patrick Shults, an Extension Forester for Washington State University, was born, raised, and trained in forestry in Michigan and will talk about what forestry looks like in the hardwood forests of the upper Great Lakes. He’ll discuss the social, economic, and environmental challenges foresters and family forests face in that part of the country and how lessons learned there might benefit landowners in Washington.
